To create, begin by adding your dried plant material to your clean & dry glass jar.
Continue by filling the remaining space in the jar with your carrier oil. Being sure to cover your plant material by at least 1 inch. If your plant material rises above your oil during this process, simply add more oil until it is fully covered.
Then stir with a spoon to combine your oil & plant material before securing your jar's lid.
Place your jar on a sunny, warm windowsill and shake once or twice a day to redistribute your plant material.
After 2 to 3 weeks, you are ready to strain & store your herbal infused oil! To do so, use a strainer & cheesecloth to separate the plant material from the oil. Then store your herbal infused oil in a clear or amber glass jar.
Keep your jar stored in a cool, dry, & dark place until you are ready to use it. When stored properly, it should last up to a year. This shelf life can be prolonged by adding a drop or two of vitamin e oil to your infused oil.
*Dried plant material versus freshly dried plant material | When creating herbal infused oils, eliminating excess moisture is essential. If you choose to use freshly dried plant material, make sure that it has been dried for at least 12 hours, 24 hours being more desirable. You want to make sure that there is no more moisture in your plant material and that it is dry + crumbly to the touch.
